Overview
For more than a decade, asexuality has been coming out of the closet. David Jay created a web site in 2001. It was called the Asexual Visibility and Education Network. Forums were added to the site which was a repository of information. Today, the site has about 80,000 registered users. There is a lot variability in how people define themselves. Demisexual describes someone who is mostly, but not entirely asexual. There is little research on asexuality or its variations.
