Overview
\"En busca de la similitud perdida: ¿es posible traducir a Valle-Inclán?\" aims to reflect on the possibilities of effectively translating Valle-Inclán's theatrical esperpentos to English. Given the esperpento's elaborate style rich in colloquialisms and the complex cultural context, the task of translating Valle's work seems, if not impossible, at least an arduous task. A more appropriate term for the three works discussed would be versions.
