من أجل تقديم مشروع حوار الحضارات والثقافات لابد من إجراء عملية ضرورية تعتبر الأساس الأول والتي من شأنها إنجاح هذا الطرح، وتأتي عملية ضبط المفاهيم أولى هذه الخطوات، وينال مفهوم الاتصال حظ الأسد في ذلك لما له من توظيف مباشر وفعال لا يمكن تجاوزه، كما لا يخفى على الجميع أن العملية الاتصالية في شقها الإنساني الاجتماعي لها دور مباشر وفعال في تحديد القوالب والأنماط الاجتماعية والتي بدورها تحدد طبيعة المجتمعات وتصنع خصوصيتها إلى حد ما، فعملية تحديد المفاهيم بكل الأبعاد والإيديولوجيات من شأنه توفير الكثير من الوقت والجهد في تفعيل مشروع حوار الحضارات والثقافات وإنقاذ الإنسانية من مخارج قد لا تحمد عقباها.
