تعمل الأمم بصفة مستمرة على المحافظة على لغتها القومية وتطويرها، وجعلها قادرة مواكبة ومسايرة العصر، فاللغة مرتبطة بفكرة التواصل والتعبير عن الأفكار والمشاعر والأحاسيس والوسيلة التي لا يمكن تخلي عنها لما لها من صلة في رسم التطور الحضاري لذلك المجتمع فأصبح وجودها أمرا إلزاميا لا يمكن الاستغناء عنها إذا ما أراد الإنسان فرض وجوده، والحديث عن قضية اللغة العربية في المجتمع الجزائري، يوجب الوقوف على بعض المحطات المهمة التي لعبت دورا رئيسيا في ترسيخ مكانة اللغة انطلاقا من مسألة جوهرية، ألا وهي أن اللغة هي لغة الدين والمجتمع.
