تتناول هذه الدراسة أعيان مديرية أسيوط في الفترة 1882 - 1919 م وإبراز دورهم الاجتماعي، والذى تمثل في إنشاء الكتاتيب والمدارس والتبرع لها وللجامعة المصرية، مما يؤكد اقتناعهم بأهمية نشر التعليم بمراحله المختلفة، كما يعكس ثقافتهم الشخصية التي تمتعوا بها. وكذلك إنشاء المستشفيات والتبرع لها، مما يبرز حرصهم على صحة الأهالي وخاصة الفقراء، وكذلك اهتمامهم بالمؤسسات الدينية كالمساجد والكنائس سواء بإنشائها، أو رعايتها من خلال التبرع لها حفاظا على استمرارها لأداء مهامها الدينية، والجمعيات والأسواق الخيرية وإنشاء الملاجئ ورعاية اليتامى واللقطاء كجانب مهم يحميهم من الضياع، حيث لا عائل لهم، إلى جانب اهتمامهم أيضا بالأزمات الاجتماعية التي حلت بمصر وغيرها كالحرائق والسيول والزلازل، والصحافة، والمناسبات الدينية والاجتماعية، هذا فضلا عن اهتمامهم بالآثار والكهرباء والنوادي.
