Overview
يحاول البحث فهم القضايا التاريخية التي تتضمنها المراسلات الرسمية المستخرجة من الجزء الثاني من كتاب \"مراسلات نابليون بونابرت\" الخاص بحملة فرنسا على مصر سنتي 1798-1799م، من خلال قراءة هذه الرسائل المتبادلة بين نابليون وحكام الجزيرة في مكة ومسقط، وكانت أداة لتحقيق الاستباق الاستراتيجي الذي تسيطر عليه بريطانيا فعليا، وتسعى من جهة أخرى إلى التأسيس لعلاقتها مع الجزيرة العربية والتعبير عن قدرتها على الحماية والدفاع عن المصالح المحلية من قبيل الوعد بتأمين طريق الحج، وتأكيد صداقة الفرنسيين للمسلمين، وطمأنة تجار الحجاز بوجه خاص على سلعهم بحماية الحركية الاقتصادية، كما يظهر البحث رد شريف مكة الإيجابي على رسائل بونابرت ومحاولته الوساطة بينه وبين الهند.
