Overview
زار الرحالة الإنجليزي وليم بلجريف الجزيرة العربية ممولا من قبل حكومة نابليون الثاني في فرنسا سنة 1862/ 1279هــ، في رحلة ذات أهداف سياسية، فمر بالجوف وحائل والقصيم ثم سدير فالرياض والأحساء، مواصلا رحلته إلى أقاصي الخليج العربي مرورا بدويلاته المتعددة. رصد فيها كل ما واجهه من حركة وعمران ومعالم أثرية وغيرها، فعرض لها وبسط الحديث. وقد توقفنا في عرضنا هذا عند محطته الأولى في زيارته لوسط الجزيرة العربية وشمالها وهي الجوف. وقد تناول البحث: التعريف بالرحلة وصاحبها، ثم تتبع مسار الرحلة حتى وصولها الجوف مع رصد انطباعات الرحالة ومشاهداته، ثم عرض مرئياته عن مظاهر الحياة العامة بالجوف والأوضاع الاقتصادية والمعيشية وكذلك العادات والتقاليد السائدة، ختمناها بتقييم عام ونقد لبعض ملحوظاته وأحكامه.
