تقوم هذه المقالة على ترجمة لزيارة قامت بها روزيتا فوربس Rosita Forbes (1) إلى إمارة الأدارسة في منطقة جازان والمناطق الخاضعة لها في تهامتي عسير واليمن عام 1341ه/1922م. تميزت فوربس بالدقة وقوة الملاحظة وعمق الرؤية في وصفها للجوانب الدينية والسياسية والاجتماعية والاقتصادية والعسكرية؛ علاوة على تميز أسلوبها بوضوح الفكرة والبعد عن الاستطراد، فإن بعضا من مادتها العلمية قد جاء جديدا في بابه وعلى نحو ثري ومنفرد مقارنة بالمصادر المحلية التي تصدت لتاريخ جنوب غرب الجزيرة العربية.
