Overview
يحضر الحديث عن الذات حضورا لافتا في شعر المتنبي، وقد حمل هذا الأمر في كثير من الدراسات النقدية على المغالاة في الصلف والاستعلاء والاعتداد بالنفس. إلا أن هذا المقال يتجه وجهة أخرى في قراءة الظاهرة فيفحص عن أشكال توظيفها في ممارسة التأثير في المخاطب وبسط النفوذ والسلطان عليه باعتبارها الصورة التي يبنيها أبو الطيب عن نفسه في خطابه الشعري، وهو ما يسميه أرسطو \"الإيتوس\" (l'ethos) وقد تبين أن الإيتوس في شعر المتنبي - وقد انعقد على معنيين محوريين هما النبوغ الشعري والفروسية - يبطن ثلاث استراتيجيات خطابية هي إضفاء المشروعية على ما يقوله الشاعر، واستهواء سامعيه وممدوحة، وبناء مصداقية تحمل على الوثوق بكلامه والإذعان له.
