يهدف هذا البحث إلى تسليط الضوء على الشيخ العلامة المؤرخ أبو الوليد محمد بن عبد الله الأزرقي وموارده ومنهجه في كتابه أخبار مكة، وقد تم تقسيم البحث إلى مقدمة وأربعة فصول وخاتمة؛ يتناول الفصل الأول التعريف بالأزرقي ومكانته العلمية والعصر الذي عاش فيه وأثره في حياته، ويتناول الفصل الثاني وصف كتاب أخبار مكة للأزرقي مع استعراض سريع لمحتويات هذا الكتاب القديم، ويتناول الفصل الثالث منهج الأزرقي في كتابة أخبار مكة، ويتناول الفصل الرابع موارد الأزرقي في كتابه أخبار مكة ويوضح الشيوخ الذين أسند إليهم الأزرقي رواياته، ثم ينتهي بالخاتمة وتشتمل على أبرز النتائج
