Overview
The subject of this paper is to shed light on one of the goddesses of the Ancient Egyptians, which played a great role in the Egyptian mythology. This goddess was known as \"Lady of the Sacred Bark\", it was known since the New Kingdom as one of the god's Re crew during his journey in the netherworld in the Amduat book and appeared thereafter till the Greco-Roman Period as part of the crew and as a sole goddess as well. Nbt-wiA was one of the deities which accompany the god Re (Iwf) in his daily journey beside the other gods which formed the members of the crew as Wepwawat, Sia, Hu, Nehes, Kherep-wia, Ka-maat and Hor-hekenu. The paper includes the name of this goddess, the forms of its writing, the different shapes and representations of that deity from the Eighteenth Dynasty up to the Greco- Roman Period, then the author presents the positions of the current goddess on the sacred bark either in the Amduat tomb scenes or on the artifacts as stelae and coffins as well as its depiction on the temples in the Greco - Roman period. The paper shows the stellar (Astral) nature of that goddess as reflected from the name of the eleventh hour of the Amduat and finally it represents the entity and the different roles of that goddess which varied between the guiding role as well as the protective and punitive roles. These roles prove that nbt-wiA was a sole goddess that had taken features and roles from some other principally deities as Hathor, Isis and Tefnut in order to perform many duties for the god Re in his daily journey in the netherworld in the Amduat and to the king in the Greco - Roman Period.
