كان للمعهد العالمي للفكر الإسلامي اهتمام بارز بمقاصد الشريعة وبحث قضاياها وتفعيلها وتجديد النظر فيها، ظهر ذلك جلياً في إصدارات المعهد عامة، والبحوث المنشورة في مجلة (إسلامية المعرفة: مجلة الفكر الإسلامي المعاصر) التي يصدرها خاصة. وإذا كانت المؤلفات الصادرة عن المعهد في الغالب لقيت الاهتمام المقبول واللائق بها نقداً وتحليلاً، فإن البحوث المنشورة في مجلته لم تلق مثل ذلك الاهتمام. وحري بدراسة هذه المقالات، واستعراض مضمونها الفكري والمعرفي وتحليله ونقده، وقراءته قراءة تركيبية تكاملية، أن تشكل تصوراً عاماً لجهودهم المشتركة في تجديد وتقصيد مقاصد الشريعة، وبيان جوانب الإصابة فيها تثميناً، وجوانب الاختلال تصحيحاً وتقويماً، ومن ثم مراجعتها وبيان قيمتها وأهميتها وإضافاتها.
