شهدت الأندلس تقدما وتطورا كبيرين شمل معظم أوجه العلوم والمعرفة منذ اللحظة التي تم فيها فتح المسلمون الأندلس، وفيما يتصل بالعلوم العقلية (التجريبية) استطاع الأندلسيون أن يخوضوا هذا الميدان وأن يخرجوا بأروع النتائج العلمية في كل علم منها، وفيما يتعلق بالكيمياء كانت لهم جهودا كبيرة ومثمرة وهذا ما سنبينه في بحثنا (تطور علم الكيمياء في بلاد الأندلس من عصر الإمارة 138-316هـ/ 755-912م حتى نهاية عصر الموحدين 635هـ / 1237م).
