Overview
This study examines the phenomenon of cyberbullying and its impact on private high school students in Cairo Governorate. Using a descriptive-analytical method, the research investigates the prevalence of cyberbullying and its psychological, social, and educational consequences. The findings reveal that the rapid growth of communication technologies and the widespread use of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok have increased teenagers' exposure to online harassment, including harmful messages, humiliating comments, unauthorized photo sharing, and impersonation. Results indicate that cyberbullying has severe effects, including depression, isolation, low self-esteem, poor academic performance, delinquent behavior, and in extreme cases, suicidal thoughts. The study highlights the defining features of cyberbullying-repetition, power imbalance, and intent to harm-which make its psychological impact more profound than traditional bullying. Based on surveys and interviews, the research found that a significant proportion of students had experienced different forms of cyberbullying through social media, chat rooms, and online games. The study concludes that cyberbullying poses a major educational and social challenge requiring urgent intervention from families, schools, and policymakers. Raising awareness, promoting safe digital practices, and enforcing protective regulations are essential to safeguarding teenagers from these risks. Abstract Written by Dar AlMandumh, 2025, Using AI
