دراسة لقلعة قديمة يعود تاريخها إلى فترة ما قبل الميلاد، وتقع في قرية الفرع غرب بلدة العيص على طريق التجارة القديم المتجه إلى الشام المسمى بطريق مأرب البتراء في العهد القديم، وتحاول هذه الدراسة الإجابة عن عدد من التساؤلات المهمة حيال تاريخ بناء هذه القلعة، واختيار موقعها، والدافع خلف بنائها، وخصائصها المعمارية، والآثار التي عثر عليها بداخلها أو قريبا منها، وصلتها ببعض المنشآت المعمارية القريبة منها، مثل الآبار الجوفية، ومناطق التعدين المكتشفة في الجبال المجاورة، والحضارة التي كانت سببا في بنائها.
