لقد شكلت الكتابة التاريخية في الأندلس حقلا معرفيا، ساهم في تطور المناهج وأنساقها من خلال معالجة النص التاريخي، بل قدمت أدوارا وقواعد للمدرسة التاريخية، وذلك من أجل إحياء التراث من خلال التأريخ للمدن والأشخاص والمذاهب، ولعل الفترة الممتدة ما بين القرن 4-5هـ/10-11م - موضوع الدراسة - مثلت نموذجا هاما في مساهمة مؤرخو الأندلس في التدوين التاريخي.
