Overview
This document deals with a psychometric study about the concept of mental health according to Abu Hamid Al Ghazali thought. The researcher defines procedurally health and illness, then mentions measures. In fact, two scales were founded, the first one concerns mental illnesses according to Al Ghazali, which represents the scale of vices. Whereas the second concerns health, it is called the scale of virtues.This study could be an introduction among contemporary studies to reveal two following points: First: the West did not know the existence of new illnesses and even contemporary studies did not tackled those illnesses as well. Second : virtue as a concept, tackled within the framework of mental health, drew the attention of Western scientists. It is considered as a subject of current interest. However, it is still having a confined and ambiguous meaning, measuring and application. The term of virtue was well received by critics considering its importance to lay the bases of a theory of a science of mental health.The scale of virtues gives a classification of virtues with particular specifications. They are different from virtues existing in list registries of mental health applied worldwide.
