تهدف الدراسة إلى تبيان خصائص الحركة السكانية في ولاية باتنة ما بين سنة 2003 و2008، فالخصائص الديموغرافية للمهاجرين أن المتزوجون أكثر هجرة من العزاب بنسبة 70%، وأن معظمهم شباب فأعمارهم ما بين 39-20 سنة، وأن مستواهم التعليمي يتركز ما بين المتوسط والثانوي. في حين أن مؤشرات التفضيل لسكان ولاية باتنة في الفترة 1998-2008 أثبتت أن سكان ولاية باتنة فضلوا الهجرة إلى ولاية ورقلة وقسنطينة.
