يعد البرسي الحلي من علماء القرن الثامن والتاسع الهجري، وهو من العلماء الذين همشوا في كتب التأريخ وتراجم الرجال، فلم يذكر له أي شيوخ أو تلاميذ أو أجازات أو رحلات علمية، ولم يذكر له تأريخ وفاة أو مكانها على وجه اليقين، لذلك اخترنا هذه الشخصية في البحث لإزالة بعض الغموض عنها وجمع مصنفاته العلمية لتسليط الضوء على سبب الخلاف في شخصية البرسي وليس الغرض من البحث إصدار الأحكام عليه.
