كان الشريف الرضي عالما من علماء الدين الإسلامي وله ثقافة إسلامية واسعة ومعرفة عميقة بالعلوم الدينية لتأثره بأسلوب القران الكريم وأحاديث النبي محمد وكلام الإمام علي (صلوات الله وسلامه عليهما) من خلال تقليده الواضح للصياغة البلاغية الرائعة فضلا عن ظهور أثر المعاني الدينية في أخلاق الشريف الرضي وسلوكه فكان ذلك سببا في غلبة المعاني الدينية على شعره. من أبرز الأساليب البلاغية التي استعملها الشريف الرضي في شعره هو أسلوب الاستفهام لا سيما في قصائد المديح والرثاء، فبلاغة الاستفهام تظهر واضحة في تثبيت المعاني الدينية في مدائحه ومراثيه.
