إن الأمن اليوم أصبح الهاجس الأكبر الذي يعكر صفو الدول، والذي تسعى إلى تحقيقه سواء وطنيا وإقليميا أو على مستوى الأفراد وانعدامه سوف يؤثر بالسلب على أمنها ويعتبر الأمن بأبعاده المختلفة حجر الأساس الذي يقوم عليه الاستقرار والتنمية وتسعى دول الساحل المنضوية تحت رابطة علماء ودعاة وأئمة دول الساحل وبتشجيع من الجزائر لخلق هذه الآلية من أجل نشر قيم السلم والوسطية والاستقرار ومحاربة التطرف، والإرهاب، من خلال وضع آليات وأطر تحقق بها هذه الدول أمنها الفكري.
