Overview
انفتح العالم الروماني على الثقافات الشرقية واستقي منها وتضرع للآلهة الإغريقية، واتبع الرومان سياسة التسامح الديني ولم يتدخلوا في المعتقدات الدينية؛ واحتفظ الأهالي بعباداتهم القديمة وظلوا يمارسون طقوسهم كما اعتادوا. وشهدت الإسكندرية أيام البطالمة وعلى رأسهم بطلميوس سوتير ميلاد إيزيس الهلنستية التي تبنت صفات الآلهة الإغريقية مثل ديميترا وفينوس إلى جانب زوجها سيرابيس الذي احتفظ بوظائف الإله المصري أوزوريس وابنها هربوقراط في جميع أنحاء العالم الروماني وتشكل بذلك الثالوث السكندري متمثل في إيزيس وسيرابيس وهربوقراط ليحل محل الثالوث المصري المتمثل في إيزيس وأوزوريس وحورس.
