Overview
ازدادت انتهاكات حقوق الأقلية المسلمة الروهينغيا في ميانمار خلال العشرية الأخيرة بما يهدد وجودها في البلاد، الأمر الذي حتم على الأمم المتحدة التدخل لتوفير الحماية لها، من خلال مؤسساتها المهتمة بحقوق الإنسان، لكن بجهود متباينة لم تفض في نهاية الأمر إلى الحماية المطلوبة. فقد بذل مجلس حقوق الإنسان جهود معتبرة: إدانات، توصيات، تحقيق، جمع وحفظ الأدلة لتيسير المتابعة الجنائية. بينما تقاعس مجلس الأمن عن اتخاذ أي تدبير من التدابير التي يمكنه اتخاذها وفقا للفصل السابع، لوقف هذه الانتهاكات التي تشكل جريمة إبادة وجرائم ضد الإنسانية، وذلك لأسباب متعددة.
