حاول البحث استقراء المصادر التي عاد إليها واسيني الأعرج في تشكيل صورة المستقبل في روايته (2084 حكاية العربي الأخير (باستعمال المنهج التحليلي، وتوصل إلى أنها انقسمت إلى مصادر موضوعية بنت مستقبلا متوقعا مأساويا، مستمدا من حوادث سياسية ومنجزات تقنية، عمل السارد على تطويرها والتوسع فيها، ومصادر متخيلة فككت المستقبل المتوقع، ومنحت الإنسان وذاته القدرة على المقاومة والحلم بلحظة مستقبلية جديدة.
