Overview
Objective: This study aimed at examining the current status quo of social work practice in charitable Waqf institutions setting. Methodology: The study sample consisted of 78 social workers who work in the Central Administration for Benefits and Social Research at the Egyptian Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and its subordinate Endowments (Awqaf) Directorates in seven governorates. It used a questionnaire form as a primary tool forgathering information from the participants. Results: The study concluded that the social workers in the sample had limited knowledge, skills, and roles; moreover, there arc a lot of obstacles that negatively affect their performance. Hence, the study presented a prospective vision for the practice of social work in those institutions. This vision involved expanding the scope of practice, improving the quality of services and programs, and the use of new methods and tools; and finally, the study proposed several tasks and roles that charitable social work professionals must perform in the coming stage.
