اتهم بعض المشككين في السنة النبوية منهج المحدثين بأنه بني على أغراض سياسية واجتماعية ونفسية مختلفة، وفي الوقت نفسه قبلوا المنهج التاريخي الغربي في التثبت من الأخبار كونه مبنيا على الواقعية والموضوعية، وهذا ما يقودنا إلى طرح إشكالية حول واقعية وموضوعية منهج المحدثين، فجاء هذا المقال لبحث هذه الصفات في منهج المحدثين على ضوء واقعية وموضوعية المنهج التاريخي، وسلك منهج المقارنة، وخلص إلى أن المنهجين متطابقين في هذه الصفات، بل يتفوق منهج المحدثين على المنهج التاريخي، مما يستلزم الاعتراف بمصداقيته كونه أكثر واقعية وموضوعية، وأوصى المقال بتجديد عرض المناهج الإسلامية عن طريق مواكبتها مع كل ما هو صحيح وجميل في حضارة اليوم.
