هذا البحث بعنوان: \"الحذف المشكل للحروف في شعر المتنبي (دراسة تركيبية دلالية)\"، إذ يقوم على جمع بعض الأبيات للمتنبي التي فيها حذف الحرف، ولكن المقصود بالحذف ليس الحذف الطبيعي كالنون من المضاف أو الكلمات المنصوبة أو المجزومة بحذف الحرف، بل المقصود الحذف المشكل، المخالف في ظاهره للقاعدة، أو الذي فيه خلاف نحوي، ثم دراسة هذا الحذف ومسوغاته إن وجدت، وأثر ذلك على المعنى، ثم بيان سبب قول المتنبي به. وحذف الحرف في هذا البحث يشمل حروف المباني وحروف المعاني، ولهذا فقد جعلت البحث في مبحثين، الأول: حذف حروف المباني، والثاني: حذف حروف المعاني.
