يدرس هذا البحث قبيلة حمير دراسة تاريخية مهمة؛ إذ إن قبيلة حمير إحدى أبرز القبائل اليمنية الشهيرة عبر التاريخ؛ لما كان لها من وظيفة كبيرة، وإسهام بارز في الإسلام منذ فجر ظهوره، وتتلخص هذه الدراسة في بيان التعريف بنسب هذه القبيلة، ومناطق وجودها، وتاريخ دخولها في الإسلام، ومدى قابليتها له، وولائها للدولة الإسلامية، وقد ركز بحثنا هذا على إبراز الوظيفة التي أدتها قبيلة حمير في فتوح الشام، وجاء في عديد من المصادر التاريخية المتنوعة، والأحاديث النبوية الشريفة، والأقوال التي قيلت عنها، ومدى سرعة استجابتها للمشاركة في فتوح الشام، وإسهامها العسكري، والنتائج المترتبة على ذلك، وهو ما سنوضحه في سياق البحث.
