Overview
سلطت هذه الدراسة الضوء على نشأة مدينة كسلا عام 1840م ثم تتبعت مسيرة المدينة في النمو والتطور خلال الحكم الثنائي حتى الغزو الإيطالي في يونيو 1940م. وتوصلت الدراسة إلى عدة نتائج: كان العهد التركي نقطة تحول في تاريخ كسلا حيث بدأ العمران والتطور. إن مدينة كسلا قامت على مجتمع خليط في تكوينه ضم الكثير من العائلات الوافدة من داخل وخارج السودان. إن موقع مدينة كسلا في مثلث بين البحر الأحمر وبلاد الحبشة ونهر النيل أكسبها أهمية كبرى لدى الصراعات الدولية والأطماع الاستعمارية.
