أهتم البحث ببيان منهج الإمام ابن يونس الفقهي في كتابه الجامع، وبيان منزلته في المذهب المالكي، بهدف إظهار معالم المنهج الفقهي للإمام، وطريقته التي سار عليها في تأليفه لهذا السفر الإسلامي العظيم سالكا في ذلك المنهج الاستقرائي التحليلي، ومن أهم النتائج تجرد الإمام ابن يونس في طلب الحق وإظهاره ولو كان في ذلك مخالفة المذهب المالكي، وإنصافه وتحريه عند نقل الأقوال بأن ينسبها لأصحابها وينقلها كما ذكروها، أمانته العلمية بحيث يذكر ما يزيد على أقوال غيره عند نقله له.
