تسعى هذه الدراسة لإبراز أهمية الحق في حرية المعتقد على اعتبار أن هذه المسألة من أكثر المسائل تعديا، وكثيرا ما أثارت جدلا واسعا على مرّ العصور، أدت بدورها إلى نشوب صراعات دامية، مما دفع المجتمع الدولي إلى تكريسها من خلال المواثيق والاتفاقيات الدولية والإقليمية، بغية وأد تلك الفتن والصراعات؛ وتجسيدا لمبدأ التعايش بين الحضارات والثقافات وحوار الأديان. وهو ما تجسد فعلا من خلال إقرارها في العديد من المواثيق والاتفاقيات الدولية والإقليمية، وبالتالي تضمينها في التشريعات الوطنية للدول الأطراف؛ بما يضمن حماية هذا الحق.
