حظيت الدراسات الثقافية بقدر كبير من الاهتمام، فقد التفت كثير من الباحثين والدارسين الغرب والعرب إلى هذا النقد الذي يركز على الثقافة الشعبية، والجماهيرية، ويتخلى عن دراسة النظرية الأدبية على نحو يحقق مفهوم هذا النقد، إلى أن استقر به الحال عند (عبد الله الغذامي)؛ الذي يعد صاحب المحاولة المنتجة التي تبنت النقد الثقافي بمفهومه الغربي وبشكل مباشر، وحاولنا في هذا البحث تتبع مسارات الدارسين لهذا النقد والتطرق إلى مفهومه وأنواعه ومن ضمنها النسق والذات.
