Overview
اتبعت الصين عدة سياسات لأمننة إقليم تركستان الشرقية، وهي في ذلك تسعى لصهر الأقلية الإيغورية في المجتمع الصيني، ويهدف هذا المقال إلى توضيح خلفيات ودوافع الصين من القيام بذلك. وأهم النتائج التي تم التوصل إليها هو أن المحاولات الصينية لمحو الانتماء الثقافي والديني للأقلية الإيغورية لا يعود لعداء الصين للإسلام، وإنما يرجع إلى اعتبارات أمنية ومصالح اقتصادية في المنطقة، وتخوف الصين الدائم من الاستغلال السياسي للأقلية الإيغورية من قبل بعض الدول، وفقدان هذا الإقليم الاستراتيجي.
