هذا البحث عبارة عن دراسة تحليليه لوثائق البردي العربية المتعلقة بالدين والتي تعد من أكثر الوثائق القانونية شيوعا في مصر الإسلامية خلال القرون الثلاثة الأولى للهجرة مقارنة بعقود البيع والشراء والكراء وغيرها من المعاملات القانونية. ويقدم هذا البحث نشرا وتحقيقا لوثيقة دين جديدة من وثائق البردي العربي المحفوظة بمجموعة ميكاليدز بمكتبة جامعة كامبريدج تحت رقم سجل B P. Cam. (80) Michaelides، وفي هذه الوثيقة (موضوع الدراسة) يقر اثنان من أبناء شخص يدعى يعقوب بأنهما مدينان لشخص يدعي أبو القاسم الحسين بن سري، وقيمة هذا الدين ثلاثين دينارا، وهو مستحق في الشهر القبطي بؤنة من سنة ثمانين ومائتين من الهجرة. والبردية مؤرخة بشهر شعبان سنة ثمانين ومائتين هجرية.
