Overview
الحجر هو أحد الأساليب التي أستخدمها من كانوا في السلطة في عهد الدولة الأموية وعصر دول الطوائف. حيث كان الوقوف في وجه السلطة شكلاً من أشكال الخيانة للدولة، وان كان قد صدر من أعضاء البيت الحاكم نفسه، فإن الأخ والابن وغيرهم من أعضاء البيت الحاكم يتم الحجر عليهم لإيقاف تمردهم، والإساءة إلى السلطة. من خلال سجنهم أو نفيهم أو منعهم من السلك الوظيفي، كما يحجر الأمراء أو الخلفاء على أنفسهم بسبب المرض الذي يصيبهم، إذ يخشى صاحب السلطة من ظهوره بمظهر الضعف أمام شعبه.
