يهدف هذا المقال إلى الوقوف على ملامح البناء القبلي وطبيعته الاجتماعية في المجتمع العربي عموما، والمجتمع العراقي خصوصا، وقد اعتمد الباحث على منهجية إعادة التحليل للبيانات الثانوية في تحقيق الهدف، مستخدما طريقة تحليل المضمون للكتابات التي أجريت حول القبيلة، والبناء الاجتماعي للقبيلة العربية. وقد ناقش المقال: التأصيل النظري لمفهوم القبيلة، والوقوف على أبعاده ومؤشراته، والكشف عن مكونات البناء القبلي، وتحولاته في المجتمع العراقي، والوقوف على أنماط التعصب القبلي في العراق، علاوة على دور القبيلة في الحركة السياسية.
