يعالج هذا المقال مسألة التصور والمفهوم في الدراسات المصطلحية؛ انطلاقا من النظرة الكلاسيكية لهذين اللفظين ووظيفتهما في سيرورة النشاط المصطلحي، إضافة إلى طبيعة التعريف والوصف باعتبارهما عملية منطقية ولغوية في الوقت ذاته، مع إبراز مكانة التعريف المصطلحي في شرح المفاهيم والتصورات، وصولا إلى الأنظمة التصورية أو المفهومية ودورها في تسمية مختلف الأشياء المحسوسة أو المجردة ضمن فئات أو موضوعات محددة؛ أي ربط الأدلة اللغوية بمدلولاتها وفق نظام معين ومنهجية مضبوطة.
