Overview
يتسم الشعر الإنجليزي باحتوائه على أبيات لا تختلف عن الأمثال الشعبية المتداولة من حيث الشكل والمضمون، وهذه الأبيات يمكن إضافتها إلى تراث الأمثال الإنجليزية التي نطق بها أسلافنا، ويرجع الفضل في تأكيد هذه السمة إلى العديد من الشعراء الذين اشتهروا بتأملاتهم ونظرتهم الفلسفية للأشياء مثل شكسبير وناش وهيريك وبروننج وييتس وغيرهم، وهذه الأبيات رغم ارتباطها بمناسبات ومواقف خاصة يمكن أن تستخدم في سياقات أوسع وما يميز هذا النوع الجديد من الأمثال هو أنه معلوم قائله وتاريخ كتابته وحتى ما طرأ عليه من تعديلات على خلاف تلك الأمثال التي توارثتها الأجيال عبر العصور. والهدف من هذه الدراسة هو إلقاء الضوء على هذه السمة للشعر الإنجليزي بتحليل بعض الأبيات التي تدور حول فكرتي الفناء ومرور الزمن، كما تعرض الدراسة للأدوات الفنية المستخدمة، والأغراض الأدبية المختلفة للشعراء وكيف أن الشعراء رغم اختلاف مدارسهم وعصورهم، يساهمون في تأكيد هذا البعد للشعر الإنجليزي.
