تعمل الدراسة على استجلاء طبيعة العلاقة القائمة بين العرب وطائر القطا في العصر الجاهلي، وتتبع مواقع الالتقاء، عند مصادر المياه أو في الصحراء عند إثارتها من مفاحصها، وذلك من خلال الأشعار الدالة، فجاءت الدراسة في محورين؛ يدرس الأول ظهور القطا في أحداث الحياة اليومية، ويتناول المحول الثاني دخول القطا في تشكيل الصورة الشعرية القائمة على التشبيه.
