Overview
سلط المقال الضوء على نيقولا زيادة شيخ المؤرخين العرب. ولد نيقولا زيادة في ديسمبر (1907 م) في حي باب المصلى بمنطقة الميدان في دمشق، والتحق بمدرسة الفرير وتنتمي أسرته لمدينة الناصرة بفلسطين، وتم تكليفه بتدريس التاريخ والجغرافيا وصار مؤرخا تحت التدريب، كما ساهمت معايشته للأوضاع في الوطن العربي في جعله مؤرخا موضوعيا لا تقليديا متحيزا، وله نظرته العميقة للتاريخ؛ فدراسته تفيد على طريق نهضة الأمم والمجتمعات، وكتب العديد من المقالات ووصلت دراسته نحو أربعين كتابا منها اثنان بالمشاركة بالعربية وستة كتب بالإنجليزية وكتابا عن الألمانية. واختتم المقال بالتأكيد على أن نيقولا رجل دهري معمر عاش قرابة قرن من الزمن مؤرخ ومعلم ومترجم كرس أغلب سنوات عمره لكتابة التاريخ بأسلوب أدبي رصين ماتع معني بأحوال الأمم والحضارات باحثا عن خباياها مفسرا لأسباب نشوئها ونهوضها وتراجعها وزوالها. كُتب هذا المستخلص من قِبل المنظومة 2024
