تضمن البحث دراسة بعض الخصائص النوعية لتربة حوض وادي مدود والمتمثلة بالخصائص الفيزيائية (النسجة، المادة العضوية، ونسبة الرمل والغرين والطين) والخصائص الكيميائية (التوصيلية الكهربائية EC، ودرجة تفاعل التربة PH، كاربونات الكالسيوم CaCo3، كبريتات الكالسيوم CaSo4) وذلك لمعرفة مدى ملائمتها للنشاط الزراعي. توصل البحث إلى تنوع الترب في منطقة الدراسة بحسب تصنيف بيورنك والتي تتكون من ستة أنواع هي تربة السهل الفيضي، تربة السباخ، التربة الرملية، تربة بطون الوديان، تربة الفيضات أو المنخفضات التربة الصحراوية الجبسية المختلطة، وتوصل البحث أيضا إلى تباين الخصائص النوعية لهذه الترب والتي تكون ملائمة للنشاط الزراعي.
