Overview
درس البحث موقف حكومة عبد الكريم قاسم (١٩٥٨-١٩٦٣م) من القطاع التجاري في لواء البصرة عن طريق توسيع الموانئ ودعم العلاقات التجارية مع البلدان الاشتراكية، لذلك سعت الحكومة الجديدة منذ العام الأول من عمرها على دعم اتفاقية التعاون الاقتصادي والفني بين العراق - والاتحاد السوفيتي عام ١٩٥٩م، إذ نصت بنود الاتفاقية على تطوير وسائل النقل البحري وتعزيز الحركة التجارية الخارجية ودعم عمليتي الاستيراد والتصدير عبر الميناء.
