Kuwaiti Women's Attitudes toward Leadership Roles and Perspectives on Leadership Characteristics

Overview

This exploratory study aims to delve into the attitudes and aspirations of Kuwaiti women concerning their societal roles, particularly in relation to their interest in assuming leadership positions at work. The research addresses key inquiries regarding women's perceptions of leadership roles, the challenges encountered by women in administrative leadership positions, the characteristics associated with women's leadership, and the socio-cultural obstacles to women in leadership roles within Kuwaiti society. The study utilized a combination of open and closed-ended interviews along with a survey, involving 45 female graduates from various departments at Kuwait University. The research presents descriptive and qualitative analyses of the gathered data, revealing that participants expressed a desire for leadership roles and maintained positive attitudes towards them. Additionally, participants exhibited the necessary personal characteristics and social skills for professional success and growth. The study also identified challenges faced by women in leadership positions, many of which were rooted in the patriarchal structure of Kuwaiti society.
