Overview
يمكن تعريف الحجر بأنه المنع والحظر، وقد استخدمته السلطة في الأندلس ضد كل من يتمرد أو يقف بوجه الحاكم، وقد تم تنفيذ هذا على الشعراء الذين كان لهم حضور بارز في المجتمع من خلال رسائلهم التي يتم بثها إلى المجتمع عن طريق أبياتهم الشعرية، فكان خوف السلطة من تأليب الشعراء للناس ضدهم أدى إلى منع الشعراء وسجنهم.
