يهتم هذا البحث بدراسة ما كتبه المؤرخ ابن الأثير حول الغزو المغولي/ التتري للعالم الإسلامي، ووصفه الدقيق لهول هذا الغزو وشدته على المسلمين، وسرعة انتشاره في البلاد الإسلامية، وبيان الأسباب الظاهرة أو الخفية التي كانت سببا في هذا الغزو، وتكلم عن أصلهم وديانتهم وأساليبهم الهمجية في القتال، ويبدأ البحث بتقديم تعريف بالمؤرخ ابن الأثير، ويعقبه التعريف بالمغول/ التتر، ثم يليه استعراض ما ذكره المؤرخ في كتابه الكامل في التاريخ عن هذا الغزو.
