عُنِيَ هذا البحث بالشاعر نصر بن سيّار الكناني أحد شعراء خراسان البارعين، وهو كذلك واحدٌ من الذين أضاؤوا ديوان كنانة بقصائده ومقطوعاته الحسان في العصر الأموي، ودرس البحث صورة حياة نصر، وملامح شخصيته، من حيث هو امير عربى فى بلاد فارس وذائع الصيت فى كنانة ثم قدم البحث الدراسة الموضوعية والفنية لشعره الذي قمنا بجمعه وتحقيقه من المصادر والمظان التي حفظت لنا ما تبقى من هذا الشعر، وهذا العمل يلقي الضوء على الشعر العربي خارج الجزيرة العربية في فترة عصيبة من تاريخ العرب والمسلمين، ويبيّن كذلك أهميّة هذا الشاعر ومكانته وقيمة شعره التاريخيَّة والفنيّة
