يهدف البحث إلى إبراز دور السياق في الترجيح بين الأقوال التفسيرية، من خلال دراسة موطن الترجيح بالسياق عند الإمام ابن كثير رحمه الله في سورتي الفاتحة والبقرة، وقد توصلت الدراسة إلى عدد من النتائج، ومنها :أن الإمام ابن كثير رحمه الله قد وقف موقفا معتدلا من إعمال السياق واعتباره في الترجيح بين الأقوال التفسيرية، فلم يقبل كل ما رجح بالسياق، بل كان يحتكم كذلك إلى الأدلة الأخرى، للخلوص إلى معرفة أرجح الأقوال في الآية. كما كان للباحثة على إثر هذه الدراسة عدد من التوصيات، من أبرزها: العناية بدراسة آثار السياق القرآني في التفسير كأثره في رد التأويل، ورد الشبه والمطاعن، والرد على الفرق المخالفة.
