يهدف البحث الحالي عن الكشف عن فاعلية المنهج الدراسي العلاجي لـDavid Henley و مفتاح هذا المنهج هو بناء الأعمال التعليمية طبقاً للاهتمامات الخاصة بالأطفال، ولا يهم إن كانت غير ملائمة أو سلبية. والعلاج في هذا المنهج الدراسي يذهب حيث يكون الطفل، وذلك باستخدام أي محتوى يشرك الطفل في عملية التعلم، فالطفل ممكن أن يحول مفاهيمه وأحاسيسه السلبية إلى شيء ما شاعري وقوي.
