لقد حظي الإمام ابن قيم الجوزية بمكانة رفيعة بين علماء عصره، فكان غزير العلم واسع الاطلاع، فشهدت له مؤلفاته بذلك، وفي هذا البحث سنلقي الضوء على حياته من حيث التعرف على اسمه، ونسبه، ولقبه، وكنيته، ومولده ونشأته، وبعض شيوخه وتلاميذه، وثناء العلماء عليه، ومصنفاته، ثم وفاته. نتحدث أيضاً في هذا البحث عن تعريف الأصول النحوية، ثم نتعرض منها للسماع عند ابن قيم الجوزية من خلال التطبيق على نماذج من كتابه \"إرشاد السالك إلى حل ألفية ابن مالك\".
