Overview
يُعد التصوير والرسم الجداري من الفنون الجمالية التي زينت بها المباني الدينية والمدنية، ومن خلالها يُمكن التعرف على طبيعة الحياة والأوضاع السياسية، الاجتماعية، الاقتصادية، والدينية وأية مظاهر حضارية لأي مجتمع. فاللوحة الجدارية هي اللوحة الفنية التي تحوي الرسوم سواء أكانت حيوانية أو آدمية، هندسية، وكتابية، وقد احتوت بعض التصاوير الجدارية على صور وأشكال للمباني المعمارية وكذلك تضاريس الأرض والبيئة المحلية. وقد تعددت الأساليب الفنية في رسم الجداريات؛ فمنها جداريات الفريسكو أو الجص، جداريات الأنكوستك، جداريات التمبرا، والجداريات الموضوعة على الحوامل الخشبية. وفي الأردن تنوعت الموضوعات الموجودة على اللوحات الجدارية وبدأ ظهورها في مناطق الأردن من الفترات الهلنستية والنبطية وحتى الفترة الأموية.
